Tashkent, Uzbekistan
The dates of the next Bukhara Biennale have been announced during Art Basel Week in Switzerland. The event will take place from 3 September to 21 November 2027 in the historic city of Bukhara.
Following the success of the 2025 edition, organized by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, the Bukhara Biennale is set to further strengthen the city’s position as one of the region’s most important cultural destinations.
A key focus of the upcoming edition will be the relationship between art, urban space, and sustainable development. Projects will be presented across Bukhara’s restored caravanserais, madrasahs, hammams, public squares, and other historic locations, creating a dialogue between contemporary art and the city’s centuries-old heritage.
The curator of the 2027 Bukhara Biennale will be Kulapat Yantrasast, founder and creative director of WHY Architecture, one of the leading international architecture and design studios. His portfolio includes major cultural projects such as the renovation of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Dib Contemporary Art Center in Bangkok, and ilmi Science Discovery & Innovation Center in Riyadh.
For travelers, the Bukhara Biennale offers a unique opportunity to experience the ancient Silk Road city through a new cultural lens — where heritage, architecture, contemporary art, and local life come together.
