Jaloliddin Manguberdi Train: Important Update for Travellers
Jun 08, 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan
In May 2026, Uzbekistan launched the new high-speed train Jaloliddin Manguberdi, connecting Tashkent with Khiva. The route is an important development for railway travel in Uzbekistan and is especially relevant for visitors following the classic itinerary: Tashkent – Samarkand – Bukhara – Khiva.
The train was manufactured by Hyundai Rotem in South Korea and introduced as a modern and comfortable solution for long-distance travel across Uzbekistan. According to official information, the train consists of seven carriages and has a capacity of approximately 389 passengers. The planned journey time between Tashkent and Khiva is around 7.5 hours, which is a major improvement compared with previous rail options.
However, shortly after its launch, the train service was temporarily suspended due to a technical issue. Based on the current operational information available to us, the train is awaiting the replacement of a required technical component before regular service can resume.
For travellers, this means that possible schedule changes should be taken into account when planning journeys to or from Khiva. We are closely monitoring the situation and recommend checking the latest confirmed timetable and ticket availability before making travel arrangements.
At the moment, alternative travel options may be used on routes between Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, including other train services, domestic flights or private road transfers, depending on the itinerary, season and ticket availability.
Despite this temporary technical interruption, the launch of the Jaloliddin Manguberdi train remains an important step in the development of Uzbekistan’s tourism infrastructure. Once the service resumes, it is expected to make travel to Khiva faster, more comfortable and more attractive for international visitors.
